Hande Yener (born January 12, 1973 in Istanbul, Turkey) is a Turkish pop superstar. Over the past decade, she has introduced different styles to the ever expanding, Turkish pop music scenery. Each one of her albums have managed to generate a lot of interest as well as anticipation due to the different styles, genres and rhythms that she incorporates into her music. Besides the different experiments Hande tackles with music, her looks and image are also going through a constant change which arguably, blends in well with the sort of music she releases at the time.

Last year for my birthday I received her album “Nasil Delirdim (How I Became Mad)” and I loved her music (Well I knew her before because in the summer I had Romeo and Kibir xD) and when I heard she was releasing a new album I had to have it. I hoped she would deliver something along the lines of Nasil Delirdim, and she did and more. This new album has many electro influences and it mixes it with chillout and other styles which makes a great new album. I instantly fell in love with a couple of songs like Pinokyo, Kubar (Putlar), Iyi Günler and Burdayim. I think she really did wonderfully with this album and everyone can enjoy it. So on with the review =3.

1. Hipnoz
One of her promotion songs and let me tell you it will get you hooked it’s that good and sweet. This style reminds me of her former album but with a funky sound and those bleeps on the background are great addition to the song. You have to hear this song because it’s such a sweet song and you will defiantly love it. Hipnoz means Hypnosis
2. Pinokyo
Pinokyo (Turkish for Pinocchio) is the first single of this album. I love this song! The intro is funky and fresh and her vocals are great! This song really makes your body move without you knowing it. the verses are so great and the chorus, simple LOVE for it. >.> who doesn’t like singing “Pinokyo Pinokyo Ne kadar güzel yüzel yüzün va” well I do xD
3. Iyi Günler
I think this is my favorite song of the album. The intro is so sweet and then those electric guitars, it’s just awesome. Her vocals are very sweet in this track. This is another song that makes your body move and it’s so chill and laid back though it has that synth sound. The chorus is one of the best parts of this song together with the arrangement and really, this song is just to good to describe so download it, you will really love it. Iyi Günler means Good day/Afternoon

4. Yarasa
This track is so groovy and laid back, trust me just download it. The intro has some catchy beats and sounds which make it a great track. Her vocals in the beginning are warped and the effects are done perfectly. Until the verses this remains the same but when the Chorus starts it gets a change that fits perfectly. Her vocals change and the song flows differently (all in a good way). It’s sound very uplifting and upbeat this song is really growing on me and I think it will be one of my favorites.. Yarasa means If I could
5. Kumar (Putlar)
A nice laid back song. I loved this song when I first heard it, the sound, the vocals, the arrangement it all flows perfectly. The chorus is one of the best things of the song, it sounds powerful and together with her vocals it just made me love it instantly. The song remains it feeling towards the end and believe me it will grow on you so download it and enjoy n.n/).. Kumar means Gamble
6. Yaban Gülü
The intro of this song is so funky it reminds me when we go clubbing to a lame disco with my bro and his gang, but with this song it’s good. Her vocals are funny for me in this song because of the way she says some things (not meant as an insult). The Chorus is so awesome! I love it when it begins because it makes you energized and it’s just awesome. Yaban Gülü means Wild Rose

7. Burdayim
Introducing with a club sound and a combo vocal with a man this song changes quickly into an addicting chorus with effected vocals that sound perfect for this song. This song sounds so good and throughout the song you will hear those addicting vocals repeating and flowing through the other vocals but it doesn’t sound annoying it only makes it better. Though I want to know who the man is that keeps singing =0. The Yurum parts really make me love this song. Burdayim means I’m here (I am Here)
8. Sanma
I honestly thought about retro-games with the opening. This song remains the laid back sound and it really gets good when the verse start and goes into the chorus. The retro sounds remain and can be heard again after the first chorus. Sanma means Don’t Think

9. Gece Gündüz
A soft intro with a lullaby feeling to it, especially her voice. The verse sounds so laid back that you just want to relax and the chorus remains the laid back theme. It’s a great track after Yaban Gülü and it will defiantly grow on me when I hear it more. the Title means Night Morning
10. Ip
This song also has the retro feeling and her vocals sound great and I love the effects. Her voice sound very wavery (like losing connection) Though it’s a perfect track to end the album, the effects, the arrangement and it’s simply a good track. Ip means Rope.
Bonus. Kemal Doğulu Feat Hande Yener - Bir Yerde
This is the first single of hottie Kemal Doğulu, the brother in law of Hande Yener. It’s an upbeat and very catchy song that you will instantly love especially when he starts singing in the beginning and when it flows in the verse and chorus. His voice is very cute and the verses and chorus go so well together that it makes the song even better. They sound really good together and make this song a gem. Bir Yerde means Somewhere

Though I have this album since yesterday I really love it and I think it will grow on me even more. This is really one of her best albums for me (Though I only know this one and Nasil Delirdim) so download it and enjoy a masterpiece and enjoy the bonus track (from me)

@ DIMITRIS: I had the same thing with ROMEO! A friend of mine did the same thing! Though I only have her latest 2 albums xD so I can not judge her old songs (but I love Askin Atesi!!) I don’t really know someone who sounds like Hande. But you can try out “Utada Hikaru ULTRA BLUE” because she has the same electro effect only a bit differently. You can also try Imogen Heap, Rob Dougan, Clazziquai (but they are also jazz but they are so goood! trust me)

ah, it’s great to read foreign people appreciate turkish music
thanks for the great review ! (I’m turkish by the way)
hande went crazy with her ‘nasil delirdim’ album and pioneered a new style that has never been tried in turkey. (nasil delirdim literally meaning ‘how did i go crazy’) she was a renowned pop music artist before, so her albums before ‘nasil delirdim’ are totally different in style.
If you like hande’s stuff, I can also recommend you harun kolcak single that she produced. see it here :
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=4RqarGM316Q
hande rocked the turkish music scene like a bomb. traditional pop singers hate her because of trying something different. unfortunately there aren’t any others like hande in the turkish music scene. i hope some people follow her example though. I find most turkish pop music identical and boring.
by the way, some insider information for you guys. the male vocals at ‘burdayim’ and ‘yalan olmasin’ at ‘nasil delirdim’ are by erol temizel. he’s the guy who composes, arranges, mixes all of hande’s stuff. so he’s literally the brain behind all hande projects.
kemal dogulu guy is the brother of handes husband, kadir dogulu. he’s also hande’s hair dresser and costume designer. he also directed some latest videos of hande, which suck IMHO. I think hande’s strecthing this guys limits, she should have some professionalism for her videos. cause the work done by erol temizel deserve such professionalism.
hande is 35. her husband kadir is 24. the age difference is often criticised by the stupid turkish media. which fail to mention numerous counter examples where the sexes are different. therefore hande also sets these hypocyrites faces with her example. she’s such a strong and wonderful woman, i totally adore her
May 30, 2008, 3:29 pmLazaro says:
=3 oooh you sound like my friend Ayze! ^.^ She also told me all those things. And thank you for the info! I finally know who sings the male parts thank you very much! (I new it in turkish but right now I can’t seem to remember it >.< "). Erol is a great artist then because I love all those songs, though I really love Armagan as well and Askin Atesi.
it's was weird and funny. Though the video of Hipnoz is weird (those balloons >x<)
May 30, 2008, 4:11 pmI think I have to agree with you with Kemal, but I thought ROMEO had a nice vid accompanied with it
Hande also has a son I’ve heard right?
I think she’s handling the media pretty well ^.^ (what ayze has told me then)
Thank you very much for the comment and info! ^.^
